剧情简介
1955年，国际局势风云变幻，新中国的建设迫在眉睫，身处他乡的中国知识分子中掀起了一股归国热潮。留美物理学教授钟培林，留苏深造的王怀民、何吟薇夫妇和黄凯华等物理人才克服重重阻力，辗转踏上报国之路。1958年中国的第一个核武器研究机构A所成立，王怀民与战争英雄陶志纲、护士杨佳蓉以及彭雄飞、黄凯华、钟心等科学家一同加入A所开始了原子弹研发工作。他们在研发过程中渡过了研发条件艰苦、自然灾害等重重危机。终于在1964年10月16日成功试爆了中国首颗原子弹。大家欢腾雀跃，又一鼓作气地投入到氢弹和两弹结合的研究中去，不久，这两项伟大的事业也相继取得了胜利。王怀民和杨佳蓉，陶志纲和钟心也终于在同一天迈入了婚姻的殿堂。1978年，科学的春天终于到来，王怀民却因积劳成疾将不久于世。医院里，他用尽力气，在民用核电报告的扉页上写下了他们几个人的名字。
