剧情简介
辛亥革命前夕，由于清政府腐败无能，社会剧烈动荡，湘西人民更是处于水深火热之中。清兵侯三因偷窃被绑到道台府受罚，突然拉他的马惊了，眼看惨剧就要发生，年轻的马帮汉子覃飞（郑凯饰）拦住惊马救下了侯三。覃飞与冬妹（钟思华饰）正在热恋中，寨主曹熊垂涎冬妹前夫留下的田产，决意让傻儿子（彭鼎文饰）强娶冬妹，冬妹不从被扔下天坑。覃飞被迫逃至他乡，参加了由唐豹（炽龙饰）、田昭全（宗峰岩饰）等组织的革命队伍，攻下竿城，推翻了清政府的地方政权。田昭全团结竿城的各方力量在湖南省新任政府领导人的支持下赶走了曹熊。不久，因辛亥革命的不彻底性，加之袁世凯复辟，湘西陷入军阀混战之中。覃飞无以为家，他被曹熊裹挟为匪，恰于匪巢中救出了-个酷似冬妹的湘西少女幺妹，两人避开追杀，逃出生天。
