剧情简介
1939年，抗日战争转入艰苦的相持阶段，日寇侵略的铁蹄在湖南战场受阻，湖南成为抗日战争正面战场的最前沿。1945年日寇进入湖南西部，历史上中国人民抗日战争中的最后一次会战——“湘西会战”在湖南西部拉响了。气焰嚣张的日军一路扫荡最后到达湖南西部的怀化芷江，企图争夺芷江空军基地，但被勇猛的湘西人民奋力击退，日军的阴谋最后没有得逞。 残酷的战争从4月9日一直持续到6月7日，双方伤亡共5万多人，损失惨重。作为击败日军导致其最终投降的“最后一战”无疑是中华民族抗日战争史上不可抹杀的一笔，这一战给了日本最致命的一击，最终以湘西人民胜利结束。
